250 amp service

Prints call for a 250 amp meter/service. Is that a standard size? If not is the next standard size a 400 amp?

You can certainly install a 250 amp service, you will likely have to use a 320 amp meter socket for it.

I have seen 225 amp services and 300 amp but I don't believe I ever saw a 250 amp service. Odd ball for around here.

Talked to the "engineer" we are going with a 400amp pricing the other way was $$$$

Then just put two 125A loadcenters under it.

250 amp breakers from most manufacturers are likely same frame size as 400 amp.

The bus in the panel it may be used in as a main is likely same as a panel with a 400 amp main breaker.

The panel with breaker is likely same price as a 400 but I suppose could be difference in price just because there is probably higher production of 400 amp breakers than there probably is for 250. Length of supply conductors could make a significant difference in cost if 250 amps is all that is required.
