Outdoor lamps?

A customer of mine has some outdoor fixtures with a built in photo eye and the lamps keep burning up(like the top of the bulb is burning thru). A previous electrician installed them, so I opened them up and they are wired correctly. The base says type A 60W MAX, and thats what he put in. Is there a type A that is suited for moisture rather than just a typical incandescant?

If you can't find the moisture source and must stay with incandescent, look for a "post lamp bulb" or "lantern bulb". If the bulb is visible, something like GE 10044 would even add some character. (http://genet.gelighting.com/LightProducts/Dispatcher?REQUEST=CONSUMERSPECPAGE&PRODUCTCODE=10044). However, if the bulb isn't visually prominent, wouldn't this be a good excuse to go with an enclosed CFL?

Very good chance built-in photo eye is simply wired in series with the lamp and won't work with CFL.
