Never have I installed or seen a cord connected range hood, I always hardwired them usually with the kitchen light circuit.

Now if you do install a cord connected one it has to be a dedicated circuit so I would still hardwire them.

I have never, ever installed a dishwasher, disposer, or water heater with a cord. Always hard-wired.

It?s been a while for residential but we used to cord the dishwasher, disposal, & FAU?s (propane type heat) the hard wire the water heater and exhaust hood, the hoods became odd with micro hood combo?s and these we installed recept?s. What I thought was weird we never installed ?others supplied appliances? like dishwashers, compactors and such but we did install exhaust hoods (even though we didn?t supply them).

I always hard wired them. Material and time being far cheaper. If they want it set up for a micro in future then pay for it. I do not see a cord as really being legal for just a hood. For a micro there is a good reason.
