3-Way Switch

I came across this switch tonight: PS20AC3

It has TOP written on it opposite the green ground screw. Why would a 3-way need to be mounted with a specific side up. There is no reason given on the data sheet, or even mention of it.

My bet is they use the same yoke for all switches simply to reduce production costs.
As of now, there is no law that prevents you from ignoring it

I agree. P&S does have yokes on some of their devices with Top writen on them but they state in their info that it doesn't matter how they are installed.

If I recall correctly, Leviton used to use the same yoke for all of their Decora devices. Even the receptacles had "top" printed on them. By the way, that resulted in a "ground down" installation...
