Customer has bought a German made machine. 400V, 50Hz, 3 ph, FLA 5.2A. The machine has a manual clamp that holds a large, high pressure hose and then the blade cuts the hose. Basically just a motor and a switch.

I have 480V available. Do I need a transformer and a VFD, or can I just supply 480V 3ph?

Well I found a similar thread about 400V/50Hz motors. I thought it would work do to the Voltage/Frequency ratio. Any precautions that I should be aware of?

Hey, some of us work for a living.

The only issue really is that it will run 20% faster and therefore put out 20% more HP. But the torque will be the same, which is what a cutting tool usually works with. But just to be careful, double check that the blade does not have a speed rating that would be exceeded.
