Type AC cable vs FMC

Is a seperate grounding conductor needed on both of these or is the outside metal sheathing considered the grounding conductor? Does the mfg have to state somewhere on the package that the outside sheathing is an acceptable grounding conductor?

Take a look at 250.118. There are several issues involved. Over current protection, lengths, etc.

320.108 provides that AC shall be provide a adequate ground path.
348.60 for FMC references you back to 250.118(5) which places limitations on FMC's ground path including a 6 ft limit, as rcarroll notes
