There is no debate, the scope is as follows.

517.1 Scope.
The provisions of this article shall apply to electrical construction and installation criteria in health care facilities that provide services to human beings.

The requirements in Parts II and III not only apply to single-function buildings but are also intended to be individually applied to their respective forms of occupancy within a multifunction building (e.g., a doctor’s examining room located within a limited care facility would be required to meet the provisions of 517.10).

A Doctors office where patients are examined or treated would require wiring methods found in Parts II and III of article 517.

"Hospital grade" devices would not be needed except at patient bed locations (see definition) and 517.61(C)(2) locations.

Is there such a thing as hospital grade MC?? Or are we referring to AC?

I'm sure what's being referred to here is HCF cable. Is it mc with a bond wire?...................OR...............Is it ac cable with a full size ground wire? Hmmmmmmm. :roll:

Most HCF is listed as AC cable with an insulated copper equipment grounding conductor.
