Hi, I wonder of the current on which a fuse melts. I mean what happens if the nominal current is exceeded slightly does it melt after even a long long time or is there any constant value with which we multiply to make sure that the fuse melts say we have a 10 A gM fuse and it melts at at least 12 A and not below this value and 10 A is it true? If so is there any rule of this concerning the constant value to find the operating current? Thanks a lot...

The fuse manufacturer can provide you with a current versus time melting curve.

In general fuses, like breakers, are not very sensitive to overloads below about 20-25%.

Different types of fuses have different trip curves. Different conditions may require different trip curve, amount of overcurrent certain devices can safely handle before damage begin to occur needs to be considered also, al well as available fault current.
