Circuit Breaker Used as Switch

240.83(D) States that a OCPD used as a switch shall be marked "SWD or HID". Does anyone know what these markings mean or stand for?

You will likely find that most common manufacturers have all their standard single pole 15, 20 and 30 amp breakers, and many will have even more than that rated for SWD. HID rating usually requires a specific model.

I agree.
But, SWD rating is limited to 1 pole 15A and 20A breakers, with 120V and 277V being the common voltages.

You are probably right I did not research before answering. Especially if SWD is only required on 15 and 20 amp 1 pole.
