Anybody know what a "tabaquera" type fuse holder is? (Lat. America)

This is a common phrase in Spanish which is used to describe a European, bottle-type Diazed fuse holder. Best I can tell it is because the holder resembles the bowl of a (tobacco) pipe. Anyone know where this came from or why they call it that?

I asked some of the spanish speakers here in the office and this is what they came up with: either the holder, which does resemble the tobacco bowl, is the reason for the label; or, the the actual fuse shape- which resembles a cigar, and is a cylindrical shaped container of tobacco, is the reason for the label. I would compare it to bushings for mc/ac cable. Some call them cherries, only because they are small and red? Who knows. None of those here who speak spanish knew the origin, the majority of which have a strong background in the language.

Muchas gracias. I thought the same thing. Although it does appear to be a slang term, it appears in many catalogs and I have found the term in some municipal specs as well so it is a pretty well accepted one at that.
