Continuous Sub Feed...To be or not to be

When sub feeding a 100 amp panel from a 200 amp panel, does the sub fed conductor have to be a continuous run, or can it be spliced. In a building damaged by vandalism (wire theft) can the portion of teh sub fed conductor that was stolen be replaced, and the conductor spliced. Or does the entire length of the conductor have to be replaced...?

No problem splicing the conductors in a proper sized, accessible j-box.
