Two wire receptacle conversion

I have a commercial customer with metal conduit, metal receptacle box and an old two wire receptacle. It is my understanding that NEC agrees it is acceptable to replace the two wire receptacle with a GFCI receptacle or install a new three wire receptacle and use the metal box as a ground or is it best to pull a seperate ground wire?

IDK The customer wants me to replace it. It is on the rooftop where I use trouble light, vacuum pump ect and it is falling apart. If I did replace it, I would want to do it per code. Then can I replace the receptacle myself?

If there's any doubt of the continuity of the conduit system from box to panel, It would be best to pull a separate EGC since it is in conduit. It would be easiest to just use the conduit if you can be sure it is a solid ground all the way.
