When the word feeder is mentioned I know that to usually mean the wire and conduit but isn't a feeder just the wire? THanks.
If a conduit is used as an EGC: Would that make it part of the feeder?
In my opinion an EGC is not a circuit conductor.
That is how I see it too. The ungrounded and grounded conductors comprise the feeder, but not the raceway, and not the EGC. That said, I will list the EGC in the table I put on the drawings to describe various feeder types. This is one of the situations in which the common, conversational use of a word is different from the precise definition of the word.I can see your reasoning, it is not necessary for the circuit to function, correct?

Grounded Conductor. A system or circuit conductor that
is intentionally grounded.
Grounding Conductor, Equipment (EGC). The conductive
path installed to connect normally non?currentcarrying
metal parts of equipment together and to the system
grounded conductor or to the grounding electrode
conductor, or both.
