So if there was an assembly in an estimating software program that was "MC Cable supported from Steel" and had the components below wouldn't the "flng hanger" and the "hammer on clip" not be applicable. I listed the part numbers for them above and in my first post. THanks.

I see many EC's using these (figure 1) with bridle rings, cable ties or tie wire to install MC cable. They come in various flange sizes based on the thickness of the beam.

I have seen EC's use these to support the MC with tyraps.

Galvenized steel tie wire is the cheapest code acceptable way to strap MC Cable onto barjoist. we try and run behind so its hidden. but its still a legal form of strapping

Thanks.... How about off ceiling grid

not any more. used to be you could run clipped on the main runners...
that's been gone for a while.... caddy used to make a nice clip with 1/2" or
3/4" emt combo clips for the purpose...

used to be you clipped to ceiling wires with caddy clips. not any more.

you must support to the building structure, not the ceiling subsystem.

ty wire, ty wraps, two hole straps, whatever.... depends on job specifications.

i worked a year on a hospital, that 1/2" aluminum flex for light fixtures in a
T bar ceiling had 1/4" running thread dropped down to minnies.....

looked right purty, too.

Yes but isn't the ceiling grid attached to the structure/deck

Be careful using tie wire. Here in Florida quite a few local AHJ's have made the use of tie wire for MC Cable unaccepted.

Reasoning is that too many fires have been caused from MC cable shorting out inside of walls because the installer tightened the tie wire too tight and it cut into the internal wiring through the gaps in the outer casing.

We can use tie wraps in lieu of the tire wire however.
