2005 NEC does not prohibit FMC outdoors. It can be run in wet locations if the conductors are rated for the installation and the installation is such that liquid is not likely to enter the raceways.

I did not look it up yet but isn't the wording you have posted kind of self prohibiting, making it pointless to use FMC outdoors?

There are places the NEC considers 'outdoors' (ie wet location) where it would be fine. Like under a deck, in or over an open porch or a carport. Also, some areas get so little rain that it could be said that liquid would not likely be a problem.

Isn't most of what you described damp locations and not wet locations?
