I had a service call last week to troubleshoot an ATS / Generator wiring problem for another EC contractor who was having problems wiring it up. I got is straightened out and was informed by the EC's foreman who was running the project that they were going to use this stand by generator to back up two seperate buildings that have there own services, non switched neutral ATS switches and EM panels.

I have never seen this done before. Any thoughts on this?

make sure you aren't liable as you have done some work on the system.

did he share his insight how he is going to make this work safely?
so, he's got two ats switches connected to a common generator.
but the neutrals aren't switched, so you can have two neutrals from
two different sources connected to the same running generator at the
same time?

i'd be interested in hearing what brian or zog has to say on this one....

No real problems, but the control wiring can get a bit interesting

I didn't turn any screws on the equipment be did show him how to correct the wiring for the ATS and Generator control wiring. The shared neutrals was the first thing that I thought might be a problem. I also asked to see the EE's prints on how they were going to install the dual system but apparently prints do not exist. I thought that was strange. I sure hope that brian and zog comment on this.
