680.25 requires pool feeder wiring to be in conduit. Does anyone know why? It sure makes for fun wiring when wiring for a future pool in a 2 story residence & trying to turn you conduit 90 to outside panels in a 4" wall:?

This is where planning comes in. On a new home you either go into a crawl space or you install an elbow in the foundation wall and go from there.

The reasoning for conduit is to protect the EGC as much as possible.

pool panel

I've wired a few pools where the Elec that wired the house stubbed out a piece of romex for the equip panel. Its starting to be standard practice around here and the inspectors are fine with it. Or they're not familiar with that code.

It is quite clear, IMO.
