Can you terminate #4 or #6 THHN on the terminals of a 20a receptacle? THanks.

Thought so...thanks.#10 is the largest you can use. You would have to splice to a smaller gauge.
What are you working on? Voltage drop?
I can't wait to see a pic of a receptacle back-stabbed with #4
Be an interesting box fill calculation too.

Horsegoer, is this a hypothetical or is it relevant?
See #6, it is a project that he is working on/out. Why does it matter?
Am I blind? I'm not seeing that. :?
No kidding - it would require minimum 6" boxes, based on a set of 4's coming in and a set of 4's leaving!

We have had to run 4 AWG for 20 amp receptacle circuits, no big deal, make a splice on each end to 10 AWG.
I'm not seeing how you would comply with 314.28.
ETA: of course, I'm not seeing how to size a box with a single entry in it, either...?
Good catch. #4 does present a problem. Mostly I have done pole lights and used this application.
Use a 4 11/16" box, 1" conduit, and feign ignorance.....
my qualifications exceed yours... i don't have to fake it.
