Might ne wrong, but I thought horizontal receptacles were not allowed on a counter top???
Not to mention that looks like a glorified female connector.

Correct.

406.5(E) Receptacles in Countertops and Similar Work Surfaces
in Dwelling Units. Receptacles shall not be installed in
a face-up position in countertops or similar work surfaces.
but it looks like a window sill to me

This looks like a code violation to me. A 15 amp single receptacle on what should be a 20 amp circuit.

Is it the only receptacle on the entire circuit?

Remember even a single duplex 15A receptacle can be used on a 20A circuit.

A single duplex?

For much more over the top receptacle parts, scroll down the page. Including a $250 carbon fiber outlet cover.

:eek:hmy:

The Acoustic Revive CFRP-1F Carbon Fiber Outlet Plate - $275 US

The CFRP-1F outlet plate cover covers the exposed outlet that is screwed down on the CB-1DB receptacle base plate, and they are designed to work as a set. Like the CB-1DB receptacle base plate, the CFRP-1F outlet plate cover is of ultra-high quality, is beautifully crafted of carbon fiber, and is treated on its backside with a vibration damping material developed at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, and that dissipates vibrational energy from electrical energy by converting it to heat energy.

I must be a hack, I use plastic plates.

I like the part where the author exclaims how much better the stereo sounds just by installing this fancy "Base plate" and cover plate.

yep... this is a plate on a leviton 15A $1.75 device.

and aren't those clothes of the emperor just astounding?

"After a bit I came back to my system, and sat down with a cup
of coffee for a little listening session. I cued up some music and
?Holy Smokes!?I had another Acoustic Revive headline on my hands!
I listened to what was going on with the music and the sound, and I
just had to shake my head in astonishment: Transparency had opened
up; the sense of space had increased, there was more recorded detail
in evidence, the bass lines became deeper and more articulate, musical
notes trailed off with more realistic decay, the timbral signature of the
body of the instruments becoming more evident (e.g. wood, brass), and
the music came across as more naturally ?live' with more ?snap' to the
notes and greater musical flow. There was one down side though; there
was a increase in sibilance that necessitated I toe out my Harbeth 40.1s
a bit to eliminate it. Once having done that, though, it was all good ? more
music, more sonics razzmatazz, more fun."

Haha, that's it Fulthrotl, this guy is a heck of a salesman, you gotta love that hi-fi jargon. I want readers here to know that what this guy is praising is a back plate/spacer (Made from 2017 Duralumin) that would be mounted between the receptacle and the wall, this plate goes for $325. Then top this off with a carbon fiber plate that sells for $275! In addition, you can get an "outlet stabilizer", this thing looks like a male plug cap that you'd want to plug into an unused receptacle to "damp the vibration coming through the AC mains connection, thereby reducing the noise and distortion introduced into audio equipment that reduces sound quality.". You can have this marvel for only $225. Now what good would all these components be without upgrading the receptacle, for a measly hundred dollars or so you can get a Oyaide R-1. So what's stopping you?

I must thank you all for the info and links.

I posted them on a music/acoustics forum I frequent .........................

It was hit..................much joking from the acoustician gurus.

Thanks again.

Nutty 500k speakers,14k chrds.........I must admit all though it was all insane, the cover and back plate improving the tonality of the room was the best.........
(note: I wonder what was in the coffee???????)........or actually I think he/she states after leaving then coming back to some coffee for a listen....(wondering where he/she went and what he/she did before coming back).

if interested........... may I introduce the gurus.
