Do typical ground screws, the green 10-32?s, have any manufactures installation requirements regarding attaching the ground wire- if it is stranded or solid and direction of twist around conductor and the size (AWG) allowed to be attached. Can?t find much on copper wire in the code.
Good point. It is even hard to find information about rated wire and terminal lugs on devices such as breakers. There is nothing in the instruction box or on the devices except the wire sizethat is allowed and the torque requirements. As such it leaves the application open for abuse by using welders cable hypalon, etc unless the NEC is followed in art 310.
But this is for "current carrying conductors" which testing includes tmperature rise and pull tests with the termination tightened to a specified torque.
Since an EGC is not a current carrying conductor the the testing per UL486 does not apply to my knowledge. Remember you are even allowed to place multiple EGCs is a ground bar.
As such is appears as though common sense is what should be used to secure the EGC.
