GFCI in commercial Bar area

2005 NEC Code........Are GFCI receptacles required in the Bar area of a restaurant? I know they are required in the kitchen area, but dont see any mention to bar or other area that has an outlet next to a hand sink.

If they do any sort of food preperation or cooking on this bar, then it would need GFCI IAW 210.8(B)(2). If not, then not required.

Look at 210.8(B)(5). Where receptacles are installed within 6' of the outside edge of a sink! This is based on 2008....
not sure about 2005!

That is a differnace between the 2005 and 2008, thanks. How about if the receptacle that is within 6' of a sink is a simplex and is for POS puroposes? Would thois also apply to POS receptacles that are duplex which are within 6' of a sink....2008 code?

There are no exceptions for a single receptacle or POS receptacle from needing to be GFCI protected if located within 6' of a sink in the 2008 NEC.
