Conduit run to garage sub-panel

Is it legal to install Sch. 40 PVC, from the main 200 amp panel which is in the basement, on the bottom of floor joists in the basement to the 100 amp sub-panel in the garage? The basement has a drop ceiling with just enough room between the floor joists and the top of the drop ceiling supports to run a 1 1/4" PVC conduit.

Yup. In a pinch, you could fit it into a 1" schedule 40 PVC, though I wouldn't want to.
