here's the particulars:

two months ago, edison rep shows up on job, and we discuss
his service requirements, and the simple solution is to provide
him a soil box with four 3/0 copper to it, customer owned, so
all edison has to do is hit the box. 200A. 3PH. 4W. center tapped
delta service.

but edison doesn't have a clear plan where they are gonna
get power, and it'll change over the next three years, so
they agree to have a 3" encased in slurry to a nearby pole,
so they can hit it there. that gets done, inspected, and slurried.

that has been sitting there with mule tape in it for two months now.

supposedly, as soon as the AHJ faxes in the magic letter after passing
final, edison is on board to heat up the following day. there is a tight
schedule, and the occupant of this building is moving in.... this saturday.

today, upon receipt of the release to meter from the AHJ, edison scheduling
says they will be providing service in.... 4 to 5 WEEKS.

any of you local folks know anything that can be done to facilitate
getting edison moving? edison's position is that they needed to be
notified in time to provide a inspection. they came out to
inspect their conduit, and have had two months.

is there anything that can be done in your collective experience?
thanks for any insight you might have....

There are such a huge company, does your client have complaint clout?
1) Let the client know you have ZERO control over them
2) Fax and email a letter to the PM, cc his/her boss as well as Karen.Flores@sce.com (find her name at complaintnow.com, no idea what she does) and state a copy will go to the PUC, complaintsboard.com, complaintnow.com, and consumeraffiars.com if a satisfactory response is not received by _____ (state a date and time). All three of these entities receive and have received complaints, one can actually intervene (to an extent). Review ALL of their own guidelines to see if they have actually violated any of them or if there is a provision you may take advantage of to expedite.
3) See if they have an internal complaint department you may also add to the list.

Typically, they do not care and you and your client are stuck because they have everything tidied up in their guidelines AND they are huge, and they could not care any less than they do right now as you are one of hundreds or thousands of things they need to schedule; you can only hope to help them care a little more.

phone calls were made, apparently by folks with juice.

meter tech showed up at 8 am this morning, set meter.
he sent two emails and left a phone call with the dispatcher,
releasing the work to a line crew.

i give it even money that we are hot by friday evening.

this is a very small aspect of a very large project that just broke
ground. there is a LOT of interest in it.

this building is a replacement for a building that will be torn down,
as it sits right where the new south column for the bridge will be at.

looks like it'll be a pretty bridge when it's done.

I cannot speak for others, but it is nice that you took the time to follow-up and let us know the outcome. BTW, is it hot?

notchet.... supposed to be hot monday morning....

i'm pulling the tempower feed off the service at 6 am,
they can do what they want.....

more phone calls were made...... and i suspect that
the driving force is that these four silly wires it seems,
are at the critical path, and are about to start eating
float days on a large project being done nearby.

until the wires are hot, there is no sewage lift station.

without plumbing, there is no COO.

without a COO, the people cannot move in.

without them moving out of the building they are in, it cannot be demolished.

without it being demolished, there cannot be a 60' x 60' x down to bedrock
foundation for a ginormous crane that will be used in a $1.2 billion project.

of course, that's conjecture on my part, but it's pretty solid conjecture.

we shall see what monday brings.

we shall see what monday brings.

monday was hot by 10 am.....
client moved in thursday morning, per schedule.

by tues morning, i didn't have a punch list.
by wed morning, i took a deep sigh of relief,
and thought.... "whew.. i get a break...."

ten minutes later, the phone rang, it was my
HVAC guy i do work for, asking if i was still
buried.... i quoted $15k of work wed and thurs,
my sign guy called with his hair on fire, needing
a sign lit up that night on the top of an 8 story
in pasadena.... it was weird, i took two deep
breaths, and the phone starts ringing.

thank god. looks like it's gonna be a busy time
for a while..... i am so freaking grateful.
