LIGHTING 277 VOLTS

After the contractor finish the job
the fixtures in the hallway area have some discrepancies and are as follows:
The 3 conductor wires (2 hot and a neutral) providing power to the 277 volt fixtures in the hallway area, have a voltage potential between conductors, 2 of the conductors line to neutral measure 277volts while the other line to the same neutral measure 120 volts. Aparently the lights work fine
does this create a Hazard? if so what type?
The contractor did not follow the color codes per NEC
does this make a difference?

You say that there are three current carrying conductors, two hot and one grounded (neutral).
Then you say that two of hots measure 277 to ground/neutral and the third hot measures 120 to neutral.
The numbers do not add up. Can you clarify this please?

the 3 wires 2 hot and 1 neutral when we took a reading 1st conductor hot to neutral read 277volts and a 2nd reading 2nd conductor hot to the same neutral the 120 volts share the same neutral. my concern is can this create a Hazard?

You are going to have to provide more information. Where did the 277 volt conductors originate from and where did the 120 volt conductors originate from. Are you sure the 120 volts are not coming from a ballast tap or an emergency source for example?

And as others have said, the NEC doesn't have a color code for what you are describing.
