Is it ok to strip outer casing of mc cable and slide it down a piece of EMT? I have a j box up in the attic with EMT running down the wall.

...mc to junction box , wire down emt is fine without a splice if that is what your asking. If your asking if you can strip an MC and just shove it down inside EMT, that is not allowed unless you have an approved fitting (MC to EMT fitting)

I should clarify,it would be stripped mc to a mc box connector to a 4x4 steel city j box, from that j box there is a emt connector with emt down the inside of the wall to another box.

Besides the proper transition fitting, do the stripped MC conductors comply with 310.120, 2011 NEC?

310.120 Marking.
(A) Required Information. All conductors and cables
shall be marked to indicate the following information, using
the applicable method described in 310.120(B):
(1) The maximum rated voltage.
(2) The proper type letter or letters for the type of wire or
cable as specified elsewhere in this Code.
(3) The manufacturer?s name, trademark, or other distinctive
marking by which the organization responsible for
the product can be readily identified.
(4) The AWG size or circular mil area.

I realize some think the individual conductors are required to be marked, but that is not what is actually required. As long as the MC cable is marked as required, the jacket-stripped-off conductors are not required to be otherwise marked.
