Depends on how good a person is at running pipe. If the scrap pile is bigger than the amount of pipe installed, you might not want to pay to much for them.

emt, or GRCis the first question.....
not everyone who can do thinwall does GRC well.

pipe work is electrical work, and so... you can see what prevailing wage
is for the union governing that area... i'm assuming this isn't work out
of the hall...

i googled, and it came up with $50k a year or so, for a commercial sparky...
http://www.indeed.com/salary/q-Electrician-l-New-Jersey.html

that doesn't sound right.... a thousand a week is $25 an hour.....
that *really* doesn't sound right....

That's about right for my area. Union scale is 26 or 27. The 50k may be factoring in the average amount per year a union electrician spends being laid off. Union electricians, due to the nature of the projects they work and the fact they move from contractor to contractor by their place on the out of work list, are considered 'temporary labor' for tax purposes.

Indeed. It also depends on the type and location of the bender. Old 555's that keep bending after you let off the button is one example. It will take some time to get used to that and will inevitably cause some scrap to be made. Having one several hundred feet from the work is even worse. Having one with a worn EMT carriage will kink a lot of 2" EMT.

How high is the work? Speed will depend on if the work is on the ground, done off ladders, or done off lifts.

Are there many parallel runs? Running a rack of two isn't much less work than running a rack of four, since they would all use the same mounts.

There is no usual rate for work like this because most GCs won't let anyone on a commercial job site doing side work and not insured.

If you want to work for this contractor as a temp.employee then you get as much as you can.

Ok cool so I wasn't far off I told him 16

sixteen dollars an hour for a commercial electrician?
you are serious?

a third world home depot parking lot refugee here
gets normally.... $100 a day... that is $12 an hour,
and they don't have to speak english, and probably
can't.

no skills, no tools besides a pair of gloves, nothing.
$12.

think about it.

what to high?

no, quite the opposite.

the OP asked about a rate for work.
it seems you based your response on factors
that don't have anything to do with that work rate...

that he's an apprentice has nothing do do with
his capabilities, or his productivity doing a specific
task.

the question was, "what is a specific task worth?"
it was not "what am i worth doing a specific task?"

and if your idea is that you can get a good commercial
electrician for $15 an hour, well, that is just insulting to
anyone with any skill level at all.

rates vaqry from area to area , your area may be one price 500 miles away it will be another
that he's an apprentice has nothing do do with
his capabilities, or his productivity doing a specific

seriously you think a day one apprentice is capable and as productive as a Jman?
the question was, "what is a specific task worth?"
it was not "what am i worth doing a specific task?"
the task is "worth" what someone will pay and that is often directly related to the person doing the task.
and if your idea is that you can get a good commercial
electrician for $15 an hour, well, that is just insulting to

what is insulting is all the internet millionares who think that every area of the country pays New York city union wages and if you work for less you must be "unskilled". You just insulted alot of good commercial electricians who are willing to work for 15 /hr and not sit around and whine about no jobs.
