I was wondering what you do with the redundant ground when you are running hospital grade MC cable, do you homerun it back to the panel?

Thanks!

Depends on whether is really is a "redundant" ground or they need to provide an "isolated" ground at some outlets. What you can or should do with the extra ground wire differs.

In my opinion, 517.13 requires the "redundant" grounding conductor to be run back to the circuit's source.

There is only one wire type EGC in HCFC, the aluminum runner is only for shunting the cable sheath along it's length and could be cut off at the connector. This leaves the metallic sheath as the only other EGC, no different than running EMT or metal conduit.
