We have a 500' underground electrical service in conduit at a new retail store, do we need to install a pull box because of the lenght ?

Two of the local utilites in our area dictate that any underground run of service entrance conductors over 300' must include a pull box. Something to consider...

Also keep in mind the distinction among service conductors, service laterals, and service entrance conductors as seen in 230.40 among other places. :) (And defined reasonably clearly in Article 100)

Is the OP's 500 foot pull really service entrance conductors? Or is he just being required to supply a raceway into which the utility can pull their service conductors?

They would be here...the service point for that type of installation would be the secondary terminals at the utility transformer.

Which then makes me wonder why the utility has any reason to require pull boxes in the service entrance conductors?
They don't, really, but sometimes you have to do what they want in order to get power...even if they don't have the authority to require you to do it.
