I am looking at a house that was wired in the 50's using a system called Touch Plate. The owner want to change the system over to a system that uses a wireless switch to control and dim the lighting. Does anyone know who would make a transmitter that would be located in the light base and controlled by an RF switch. The power would be in the base.

You mean having the RF relay in the canopy of a fixture or outlet box?
I think lutron, Insteon , and some others have that.
But if i remember the touchplate system is hardwired with remote relays and relay enclosures.
