Triplex From the House to Garage

I would like to use TriPlex or QuadPlex as an over head feed from the house to the garage. It would be considered a branch circuit. Is this permitted and what are the applicable codes that permit it. If not, what are the codes that do not allow it.

Look at Article 396. I don't think you will find any listed triplex or quadplex cables. It is my opinion that the code does not require the use of a listed cable but many AHJs prohibit those cables based on lack of a listing. I base my opinion on the list item in Table 396.10(A) which reads, "Other factory-assembled, multiconductor control, signal, or power cables that are identified for the use". It is my opinion that the cables in question are "identified" for the use.
