Clearly the receptacle cover plate in the third photo is the wrong color. :)
I am not sure I understand what I am seeing in the second picture.

A tile wall on th right. HVAC register on the left. What you see is a blank cover plate that has been cut down. Half of the box is to the left of the register.
Is the blue tape there because there is nothing for the screws to attach to? It looks like painter's tape; it should at least be duct tape.

First photo supposed electrician cuts the plaster ring and install 1/2 in flex into slot
Looks like he did a good job, fitting it in there....WOW
Second photo is exhaust hood vent, covering half of the device box in wall,
Hate to try, and check the splices in that one!!
Third photo is a beautifull 4-0 round cover plate, in brand new
Tile backsplash something every homeowner wants. :0
Is it that hard to get some quality workmanship ?

I agree with the first two, problem is, that #3, while unsightly, isn't really a code violation. I would be questioning it as an inspector, but the tile guy didn't seem to have a problem with it.

Possibly the plate and box are there to accompdate a fixture that the owner has not chosen yet or is back ordered?
If it is just there to avoid hiding a junction box then the design and workmanship do leave a little to be desired. :)
PS: I wonder if there is a figure one style octagon box behind the cover? Did you look?

Did you check to see if it was a plastic box behind the metal blank cover?

You could be correct. I don't see any over head cabinets, so maybe this is for the under cabinet light.

It would leave a lot to be desired.:D

I don't see many guys use octagon boxes, so my guess would be probably not, but we'd have to ask sparks27.
