I have had to switch end bells and spin the rotor around to get a motor to fit but this is the first time I have seen one from the factory that way.
It's a replacement IEC motor. The original had the peckerhead on top.
Odd only in the sense it is less common in U.S. NEMA floor-frame motors commonly have the pecker head on the left.I haven't wired motors like that in a few years now. But did do a search. Some peckerheads are on left some right some top. Why is ths on the right odd ?

Now that is really odd. What kind of motors are they?In my experience I have seen about an equal mix with those on the right having a slight edge.
