energy code

according to the energy code you must be able to close 50% of a hotel room, in a room that has one ceiling mounted fixture and two switched receptacles, am i allowed to install a dimmer on a receptacle in order to conform with this code????

I don't follow your question -- do you have a code section -- usually in order to use a single switch for multple luminaires it shall be an occupancy switch or is described as reducing the current comsumption to 50%. This is not a requirement in guest room -- guest rooms have a Master switch that controls all swithces -- I am being vague as a specific section has not been determined.
