I've recently joined a company that operates several hundred radio & tv transmission sites across Australia. Lightning protection seems to be a particular issue as each week equipment somewhere is damaged from a strike. Given proper site earthing and TVSS system, is it realistic to expect ligthing damage to equipment to reduce to zero? I'm commencing a review and would like to identify what a realistc outcome for the project would be.
If anybody has relevant experience in LPS for mountain-top transmission sites I'd be most interested to discuss strategic LPS designs.
Thanks,
Patrick
