Stacking FA booster pnl on top of panelboard

anyone know any caveats against this?

i've seen it done b4 on the field but am not sure if theres any codes out there against it. TY

What is an FA Booster? Is it part of the "electrical installation"? If so see 110.26(3). It may not extend more than 6" beyond the front of the panel. If it is not part of the electrical installation, it must be located 6' above the panel as indicated in 110.26(E).

an FA booster is a fire alarm extender panel which is basically what Bob said, a power supply for strobes, horn/strobes, horns, etc...which is connected to that main fire alarm control panel via a data circuit (sometimes called an RUI line).

i would agree that 110.26(E) prevents this but just like Designer69, i've seen them mounted above panels within 6' of the required clearances one too many times. hmmm
