Found this running a chiller. All disconnects and cabinets are open in the chiller room as well...Kids play just around the corner from this. The 150A fuses in the chiller room run very hot as well. The unit will be serviced next week, then I will check amps.

ARTICLE 590 Temporary Installations maybe.

As a Maintence Guy, I need to do this also at times.
I put caution tape up as a rule.
Operators play in the AC Rooms and ocasionaly walk by.

It seems their comfort is more important than my equipment temperature.

408.38 requires the enclosures be "dead front" type... removing the dead front is probably more an OSHA violation.

Art 590 would not support this installation. Augie's citation is correct except it isn't limited to OSHA.

It also violates 110.3(B) via UL category codes WEVZ, WXHS, or WIAX and several other category codes that reference them. There probably is or was a lable inside saying so.110.3(A)(1)

Last but not least, it doesn't take too much judgment to call 110.3(A)(8) on this one - especially with children nearby. I'm sure whoever insures the owner would be happy to do so if the owner doesn't themselves.
