In running 100 Amp conductor in 1 1/4 inch Sch 40 conduit for a pool pump and heater, I've been limited to a depth of about 12 inches due to cap rock. My understanding of 300.5 suggests I can either cover the conduit with 2 inches of concrete or run separate conductors which are GFCI protected. Any thoughts?

Re: In-ground conduit

Note number 5 to Table 300.5 allows for the 2" covering of concrete, I am not aware of any allowance for separating conductors and GFCi portecting them. This would be a violation of 300.3(B) and 300.5(I).
