what would you need to do to feed a 230v load from a 480Y 3ph panel. A sterilizer according to the one line was supposedly 50A 3ph 480v load. Equipment comes in and it is 15A 230V. Conduit and wire is already to the space from the panel.

Run new conduit to the correct panel. Pull new wire, and install the correct rec.

jb's answer would the the practical one. If, for some reason thats not possible, plan B would be a transformer with properly sized overcurent protection on primary & secondary. If your sterilizer is 3 phase and truely 15 amp, it would probably take A 9 kva transformer (using standard sizes)

277 V would be too high for a 230V piece of equipment. Or maybe you are suggesting a buck transfomer with a 277V input and a 32V secondary winding to get 240V?

Does the sterilizer have a steam connection? Is steam available? That is the only thing I know that would explain the difference in power requirements.
