Generator block heater receptacle

Checked the code book but couldn't find anything requiring the generator block heater receptacle to be GFI protected. Anyone find something different? We used a single receptacle (simplex) with bubble cover. Receptacle is located inside generator housing enclosure.

It does not need to GFI protected and shouldn't be.

You could hard wire this with a single pole switch inside the generator housing for a disconect if you wanted to, (prefered in my opinion) a plug connection close to a vibrating generator is not the best scenario.
