Is there anything in the code that tells you when and where you should seismic a light fixture? Or is this something that would be in the building code? I understood that you only seismic the fixture when the chain is longer than 3' and or of it can hit something when swung and at a 45 degree angle. Can anybody help?

Re: Fixture seismic supports

You are correct that the seismic requirements for luminaires are a building code requirement. I would check with the local AHJ for your seismic requirements.

410.16(C) deals with suspended ceilings used to support luminaires.
