A recent underground service change my boss decided to "help" with. Straight piece of rigid had to be removed and replaced with an offset to accommodate the new meter pack as well as cover the SE cables penetrating the brick wall. Think he needs a little refresher in conduit forming.

Only two comments:

1. Couldn't get the connectiuon box on the other side?

2. I've cut an elbow in half to make an offset.

No he threw a full stick in a heater and formed it..... how he managed that I can only think of a couple of possibilities. I would have redone it but he left it and the service passed....hindsight I should have taken a close up where it goes through the KO to do it justice.

Does your boss always tell you that your company does quality work? That's the one that makes me laugh. "Our company does quality work and the other companies are hacks". Hear that all the time and they are hacks just like everyone else, just full of themselves.

Brutal.....I have seen it done when I was an apprentice #2 I now have a blanket in my truck.
I should have explained; this was a 4" EMT 90 I used. I had to hammer the cut ends round to fit into the coupling, as the factory mandrel ovals the pipe a bit. Plus, I half-round-filed the heck out of the cut ends.

I had to do this for a feeder to an upstairs panel. It descended a wall, 90'ed to horizontal, pased under the downstairs' main floor beam, and up and over a large HVAC supply trunk, then to the outside meter bank.

I was still just a helper when I came up with this solution. I've done this since then on other jobs. If I need a larger offset, I butt the straight factory ends of the 45's together, and connect the cut ends to the pipe runs.

Good technique.
:)

I thought of putting a weatherproof trough underneath the meter pack as we were pretty limited on options with a nice big rectangle knocked out of the wall already just for the 4 cables. Best case scenario the top meter would have been centered at about 7 and a half feet.....no go. Also forgot to mention he ordered the new meter pack w/o looking at the job first.

I don't think I've ever worked for anybody that DIDN'T say that. Saying that and doing that are 2 completely different animals though.
