Don, my point was for whatever reason they are not selling them for use yet.

This is interesting, as I am not sure, but no one from this site - and this site covers a large portion of the US of A - has seen one on the market.

This would be a real blow to the manufacturers if they cannot produce a "workable" product for the market in a few days!!!

I wonder how inspectors will treat this?
I know how I would treat it, I am curious how other inspectors are going to deal with the lack of a product that is code required, yet not available.

If in fact they cannot actually produce them, I hope the NFPA "wakes up and smells the coffee"...

Sanctioning products that have not been properly tested, or produced to be readily available to the market..

ARE YOU READING THESE POSTS NFPA CMPS?????????

Of course, we are a pretty tough crowd. :D

I don't know if we are a tough crowd, I would say informed.

How many years of being lied to by the manufacturers must pile up before I am allowed to be cynical about what they say today?

Unfortunatetly I will put the burden of proof on the EC....

And what will you except as 'proof' from the EC that the product is not available? :-?

This seems to be an issue that will require the inspector to put forth some effort.

I put up enough effort as far as study everynight, new products, constant ceu's more certs. My effort......Hey EC you informed me the product is not available....I say ok....Lets document that....EC says ok......I did my job as the EC did as well........I knew it, the EC knew it......we are all just doing the CYA thing........

My question to you would be, "have you got one for sell?"
You say, "No"
I say, "Its documented."

Lets say only Square D has the combination AFCIs available on Jan 1, are all ECs going to have to pull out other brands panels that have already been roughed just in order to use Square Ds panels and AFCIs?

Heck no.......I said my piece in my previous post. I put the burden of proof on the EC....He answered and I knew it as well.........PASS....see ya on the next job. I still want to see Mr.Electric Pierre's reply.....

Greg, my last post was not aimed at anyone in particular.....I just see this whole thing turning in to a costly mess for ECs.

Bob, I did not see that at all......and I agree. As a twenty year master electrician and an experienced EI. I am going to work out these issues with the EC's when it comes to town. I feel the EC's in DC are my family. We all work things out...grey areas and interpretation we talk it out and work it out. Cut and dry issues they correct. In the end we all make it code compliant.
