resenty I was asked if a main disconect was required in the breaker panel in 1976 as required by nec

To my knowledge the NEC has never required a main disconnect to be INSIDE of any panel. I believe the NEC has always allowed the main to be in a separate enclosure/location.

Need more info. "Panel" is to vague.


If the panel is the service and had more than 6 breakers or if it was in a separate building from the main service.....yes
