Just got my renewal for this years health insurance. Up 26% from last year which was up 20% from the year before and on and on it goes.

$1500.00 a month for a family plan. This is going to cost someone.

I pay 1300/mo this year and it will go up at least 15% next year. The kicker is, at the present time, I am expecting to have to pay somewhere between $90k and $150k in expenses that the insurance co is denying.

My suggestion to everyone is to have a professional broker review your policy and explain every nuance to you. You may find that it covers less than you think. I would also advise to look into a secondary insurance policy. Just because you pay alot of money every month, does not mean that it covers your family well. Don't think that this can't happen to you. My insurance carrier is one of the largest in the mid atlantic area.

I'm going to be looking into that 'quack-quack' insurance. Anyone have short term disability insurance, and do you care to comment on about what you pay? The Builder's Association tells me that I can get a pretty good rate though them as part of a 'group', but I just don't know what that rate is yet.

The family is on the wifes state plan and if push comes to shove I can hang out at the VA all day.I set up Aflac for my workers a company health plan is still out of reach.

Family with one dependent is $2,100 a month in the assn plan, employee only is $1200 a month, rates are going up again, and we atill have guys out there charging customers, 80's prices, how do they expect to survive, the HVAC guy down the street, was depending on his wifes insurance, and she was let go from her job last month, now he is finally waking up.

There is no affordable goverment plan comming down the line, all the sceams and smoke they have been planning, are just more plans that offer limited coverages, and in the end will cost everyone more. I think they need to make more good private plans, affordable to the average working guys.

The whole system is upside down.
Does anyone submit to their auto insurance for oil changes or a new battery?

Routine and chronic and even most minor ER visits should be out of pocket.
Maybe a savings plan deal to smooth out one bad year vs 3 ok years expenses; probably tax deductability for expenses.

All most people should need insurance for is the serious and catastauphic situations that NO ONE can afford.
