infinity said:250.122 is tricky and not one size fits all when figuring out the size of the EGC. For example on a 20 amp circuit with a #12 ungrounded conductor would require a #12 EGC. Use #6 for the same circuit and your EGC must be a #6 also. Use that same #6 for a 60 amp circuit and your EGC only needs to be a #10.

Use table 250.122 but Trevor is correct when you upsize conductors for reason such as voltage drop.
