Hi guys and gals. Haven't posted in awhile but I hope everyone is doing well. I have a customer that really want's a t.v. above the tub. I think I know the answer, but is there any possible way to accomplish this? Don't do much resi. anymore so maybe there is something new I'm not privy to. Thanks for all the wonderful knowledge I continue to recieve from you all.

Everyone hates my opinion on this, but go ahead, the only violation is if the receptacle is above the tub space.

I agree with what the others have said. As long as the receptacle is not located within or directly over the bathtub you are OK. (See 406.8(C))

I just had a Samsung LCD TV repaired.
The repair guy said that there was a lot of corrosion on the circuit boards.
We had this TV in the bedroom and a humidifier was in the room about 5' from the TV all winter.

I would say that the humidity will shorten the life of the TV over the bath tub.

Oh yea...it was under warranty.:D

I would be worried about your health if you have that much moisture. Try getting a de-humidifer. :)

someone is making an outdoor LCD tv that won't be affected by the moisture in the bathroom. I don't remember who; i think it was advertised in 'electronic house' magazine last month. i'm sure a search will show something.

I believe the answer lies in what over the tub means. Over the tub to me is in the ceiling directly over the tub. If it is in the wall that the tub butts up to is it really over the tub. Tough question. I have seen tubs that have a 2 foot deck around them-- where is over the tub????
