I found this in the bottom of an article I was reading, found here -> http://jacksonville.com/print/458347

It read,
Senate committees will consider . . . . . . a resolution to exempt light bulbs made and sold in Georgia from federal energy-conservation requirements.

edit::::::

found the full text: - http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/en-US/display.aspx?Legislation=32492

A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Title 10 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to commerce and trade, so as to provide that incandescent light bulbs manufactured in the State of Georgia and not exported from the state shall not be subject to federal regulation; to state legislative findings; to provide for lawful manufacture, possession, and use of such light bulbs; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

Presumably this is one of those things that happens in politics whereby to get the support of a representative for a bill there has to be something in it for that representative, and someone somewhere has asked a representative to allow his light bulb factory to be able to keep on making bulbs for the locals.

And even better; without competition from elsewhere, in particular without competition from the Republic of China or India.

Expect good old fashioned bubls in Georgia to be available, but at a price.

Just a clever bit of state protectionism. And its good for employment too. How could this bill possibly fail? I wonder how many other states will look to this as a model?

Nothing to see here, move along...
