I know it is spec driven but are there usually certain types of splices for certain wire size ranges? Thanks

Each splicing device has wire size or range specific to that device. Some people have preferences of what type of device to use in certain situations, doesn't necessarily mean other types won't work.

i saw your post regarding splicing...the only thing that appeared written on my screen was a big capital "W"...then blank space....if you use any one of the following the letters (a,e,h,i,o,r,u, or y,) after the "W" you can splice them together and make a word provided you use a properly sized wire nut...

actually, it was four l's spliced together with three hipress lugs....

back to the question....
every 360 degrees of bend in a conduit requires a junction box or fitting.
back in the day, with type TW solid wire, pulling more than that wasn't
going to go well....

now, with simpull, you don't lube wire, and you can pull a very long way
around corners, and thru those required junction boxes without much
drama... four #4 in a 1" conduit, 750' with six 90's and a couple kicks,
went in on slow speed with a maxis tugger till i got bored, and then
went high speed the rest of the way... the strain guage on the triggers
footpedal bounced on 1,000 pounds pull a couple instants, but it went
in at about 75' a minute..... no wire soap, no stopping...

did i mention i really like simpull wire?
