Unfortunately, the company that made this freezer unit went out of business. I am tasked with replacing the main 30 A contactor, which has one bad pole. Curiously enough, the contactor was setup for 3-phase and the unit is installed as 240 single phase. So I swapped everything on L1 to L3 and T1 to T3. So the freezer is working again while we locate a replacement. Of course it may last 9 more years that way....
Here is the part number: CR353AB3AB1C, which is a Definite Purpose Contactor
The last "C" is the kicker. It apparently means that it has 2 auxiliary contacts. My question is how to go about finding a replacement or similar item? GE doesn't list this in their catalogs anymore. They have similar ones, but they seem to have some 4-terminal contactors now.
What research I have found tells me that it MIGHT be POSSIBLE to find a suitable replacement, and if it doesn't have the auxiliary contactor(s), then I can move them over from the old one. I am not even sure that both Aux contacts are in use (one is for sure).
Oh, I found the old catalog from 1999. The latest catalog makes it obsolete. See http://livewiresupply.com/pdfcatalog/ATTACHMENTS/DIR100004/GENELEC00003_5_3_5_1.pdf The same company that has the catalog has a similar part, CR353AB3AB1 (the trailing C is missing) at http://livewiresupply.com/motor-control/ge/CR353AB3AB1.html -- but I doubt they will sell me ONE!
Has anyone worked on these? Is it possible to repair the contact that went bad?
