Ok, this thing's been beating to death, but it never seem to bring closure to the AFCI argument(pro and con).
So here's the thing.
I want to see three things:
1: Documentation on how the AFCI work. And I mean FULL documentation, waves, calculations, how does an arc in a cord behave VS an arc in a motor.
PLEASE DON'T ANSWER:"The afci is built to recognize the difference between an good arc and a bad arc". I want to see REAL TECHNICAL DATA. HOW does the AFCI compares the good arc and the bad arc. Not just a glorified GFCI
Is there such a thing?
2: I wanna see an independent test where an AFCI DOES NOT TRIP when a vacuum cleaner, a drill, any kind of motor is plugged in, but it trips when an arc is in a lamp cord(let's say). And I'd like to see it work that way LEAST 80 out of 100 times.
3: I want to see a test where a bed sheet is next to a cord and when the cord arcs will the AFCI trip fast enough NOT TO IGNITE the bed sheet. While the same AFCI WILL NOT TRIP when a vacuum cleaner is plugged in. LEAST 80 out of 100 times.
Give me this and I'll be the biggest AFCI pusher.
